Whether you're clearing out your wardrobe or flipping bargain finds for profit, selling on Vinted can be a brilliant way to boost your bank balance. However, there are some things that you are going to want to know before selling on Vinted, as well as some settings you will want to change.

What is Vinted?
Vinted is a marketplace for buying preloved fashion, homewares and more and selling on your unwanted items.
Vinted have three main aims:
- Sell simply – make money by easily listing your preloved items – a great way to make money on your phone or to make money with your iPad.
- Shop smarter – find amazing brands that you love at a fraction of the RRP.
- Join the community – customise your feed for the products that you really want.
The Vinted app is available both on iOS and Android or you can use the desktop website.
Postage options
Vinted have a whole host of integrated postage options, meaning that the buyer pays for postage and you get either a printable label or a QR code to scan to post your sold items.
You are going to want to change your postage options as your very first job before selling on Vinted, because one of the shipping options available, Relay (either home delivery or shop pick-up) is only available in London, and other options require you to have a printer.

Other shipping options might just not work for you. Getting to a Yodel drop off point is really difficult for me, so whilst I have on my profile that I will accept Yodel on request, I don't have it as a default option.
If you don't have access to a printer then here are the settings you need to change so that you can sell on Vinted without a printer.
To change your postage settings click on your profile picture>settings>postage.
Choose Your Username
Before selling on Vinted take a moment to choose your username instead of the default username that Vinted gives you.
Changing your username from the random one Vinted gives you helps build trust and makes your shop look more professional. You don’t need anything fancy – even a simple change can make a big difference.

Bundle discounts
Vinted offers sellers the chance to offer bundle discounts – when a buyer buys more items from you they can get a discount.

These discounts are automatically applied to new accounts and could see you offering as much as 50% off without realising it.
Say you’ve listed a designer coat for £100, and someone adds four £1 items to their basket. If your automatic bundle discount is 50%, your entire bundle could sell for just £52. That’s a big loss on your best item!
To check or change your bundle discount settings click on your profile picture>settings>bundle discounts and amend your settings there.
KYC
Know Your Customer, or KYC, is a scheme you may have experienced elsewhere – its a member identity verification procedure and it is completely legit. Its a requirement, by law, for MangoPay (who handle Vinted's payments) to fulfil to ensure that they meet the anti-money laundering requirements.
Along your selling journey with Vinted, at some point you will need to verify your identity as part of the KYC procedure. This involves securely uploading a copy of your passport or driving license and sometimes additional information like a bank statement.
Failure to do so within the reqired time frame could result in you losing access to your Vinted balance.
Before Selling on Vinted be Aware of Common Scams
Like other online marketplaces, Vinted can be rife with scammers.
There are some common Vinted scams to look out for – for example, someone stating they can't see the photos of your item and asking you to email them over or sending you a QR code within the chat to enter your payment details.
Be aware of these common Vinted scams to stay safe when selling on Vinted.
You can't easily relist your items on Vinted
Relisting your items on Vinted is a great way to get them seen again if they aren't selling.
If you want to relist your items on Vinted you can't just use the same photos to bring them to the top of your Vinted wardrobe – doing so means they'll just end up where they were previously.
Instead, you need to edit the photos slightly by cropping, rotating or adding a border – or of course you can take completely new photos. Here's how to do it automatically.
You can only have one account – and one account per household
On Vinted you can only have one account (unless you need a pro account for business selling) AND you can only have one account per household. This is annoying for me as my husband is also selling his Warhammer, but I've just had to pop it onto my account.
Selling on Vinted is a brilliant way to turn clutter into cash – but setting yourself up properly from the start can make a huge difference. With these tips, you’ll be off to a confident, scam-free, and stress-free start.
