Both Vinted and Depop offer you free listings, so it doesn’t cost you anything to list your item or items for sale. Once you make a sale you also won’t be charged a fee on either platform.
On the other hand, when it comes to selling on Vinted, there are no fees for the seller.
On Vinted, the seller gets to keep 100% of the sale price of the item or items they have sold.
Postage options
Choosing a convenient postage method impacts which app you choose to sell your unwanted items on.
Vinted have a variety of postage methods which you can turn on and off in your settings, choosing a postage method that is convenient to you.
The postage methods on Vinted are:
- 24/7 InPost Locker Pick-up
- InPost Home Delivery
- EVRi Home Delivery
- EVRi Parcelshop
- Yodel Store to Store
- Yodel Store to Door
- DPD Pickup
- Royal Mail Standard 2nd Class
You can turn these options on or off in your settings by going to Settings>Postage and using the button to toggle each one on or off.
Within Vinted you will get a label or barcode provided for all of these shipping methods except for Royal Mail.
When a buyer selects Royal Mail as their delivery option, Vinted will add the Royal Mail cost to your balance once the item has been delivered.
When selling on Depop you have two postage options.
You can use Depop Shipping, where they provide a label with Evri, or you can arrange your own shipping and choose your own provider.
On both apps the buyer pays for the postage.

Accessing Your Funds

Once arrived the buyer has 2 days to raise any problems with their order, or mark that everything with the sale is fine.
The funds then go from ‘pending’ to ‘available’ and you can withdraw your funds.
It can then take 5 working days to receive your funds from Vinted.
Payments on Depop operate in a similar way to Vinted.
When a buyer makes a purchase then the money will appear as pending in your balance.
Your payout is then sent to your linked bank account 10 working days after you have made the sale.
If your payment is showing as ‘payment on hold’ then the buyer has raised an issue and your funds will be on hold until the issue is resolved.
Vinted vs Depop – Where Gets More Sales
Typically speaking, Depop caters to a younger audience, often teens, who are interested in the latest fashion trends, whereas on Vinted a lot of buyers are after getting a great deal.
Think of Depop buyers as students, and Vinted buyers as mothers and housewives. Of course, this isn’t 100% accurate, but it should help you to gauge where to sell.
