make money this winter

Winter is on the way. As great as it is for frosty walks and snow-filled Instagram photographs, it's cold. With higher-than-ever energy bills, this probably means there is a gap between what you earn and what you can afford to use to pay your electricity and gas bills. We are all looking for ways to earn a little bit extra to help with those bills, so we can have the heating on over these cold dark months. Let's have a look at some ways that you can make money this winter.

Earn Cashback When You Shop

As tight as money might be, there are still things we need to buy. When you shop online, be sure to click through to the retailer via a cashback site like Quidco and Top Cashback. Your journey will track and you'll earn a percentage of what you spend back as cashback. There are loads of retailers on there, including Asda, Currys and Argos.

Start A Side Hustle

How about starting a side hustle to make money this winter? If you love staying indoors and crafting, how about earning some money from it? You could make products to sell online or at local craft fairs. Maybe you can use the skills you already have to start your side hustle, such as graphic design? You can find small businesses that need graphic design services but might not have an in-house designer. Freelance gigs can be great and earn you a decent hourly rate. Other side hustle ideas include pet sitting, tutoring and renting out your driveway.

Pick Up A Part Time Job

Maybe you have the capacity to take on some extra work? There are lots of jobs you can do from home so you can juggle them with your other responsibilities. Maybe you can squeeze in an hour here, half an hour there and do some hours in the evening? You can find customer service jobs for well-known companies where you simply log onto the system from home and help customers with problems. How about data entry work you can do on your laptop from your kitchen worktop? You could even become a virtual assistant for a business person, sorting out everything for them from travel to meetings.

Sell What You Don't Need

Maybe one of the best ways to make money this winter is to sell the stuff you no longer need. We all have items of clothing that no longer fit or things around the house that are just taking up space. Maybe it's not gym equipment, toys, or kitchen gadgets that are barely used. All of these things have value and you can sell them for free on sites such as Facebook Marketplace. You might want to use platforms like eBay for more niche items but there will be fees and postage involved. If you list your items ahead of Christmas, there will be people looking for affordable gifts.

Having enough money to pay the energy bills in the cold months of this year is going to be tough. See what you can do to make money this winter and release some of the financial pressure.
