Welcome to the second blog post in a series telling you how you can earn an extra £100, £500 or £1,000+ per month. Earning £500 consistently every month will take a bit more effort than earning £100, but for some people this is equal to their part time wage! It could give you a lot more freedom, pay for a holiday or anything else you want to do. Let’s explore how to earn £500 a month.

Firstly, you need to have completed the steps in my first post – how to make £100 a month. You should sign up for more than 10 websites/smart phone apps and drop those that don’t work for you. These will form your base £100 and often more. Below are things that you should be doing in addition to these things.

Sell your skills to earn £500 a month

Whatever you can do, you can make money from it. Fiverr allows you to sell a whole host of services for $5 – you can do things like post on forums, leave comments on blogs, design logos and much more. You can spend a few minutes browsing the jobs available before deciding what you will sell for $5. You could also look at People Per Hour for jobs that you can complete. The jobs on there range from everything under the sun – you could set up social media pages, write articles or record an audio book.

Audio Transcribing

If you have a good typing speed then you might want to consider working from home as an audio typist. Working on a shift basis, you can be sent audio files to transcribe on a regular basis. There is a deadline with each file you receive and you will be paid for the number of minutes you transcribe, not the number of minutes you have spent transcribing.

Focus groups to earn £500 a month

These days, attending focus groups sometimes doesn’t even involve leaving your home – you can complete online focus groups and group discussions to earn cash. People4U connect you to relevant focus groups both online and at real locations across the country.

Matched betting

I finally embarked on matched betting in July 2015 and I made £12,000 in 12 months of matched betting. It is a fantastic way to earn extra cash, completely risk free. Even better, there’s no tax to pay. It is really simple, especially when you utilise Outplayed.com (Previously Profit Accumulator). I have got most of my extended family involved now (hello everyone!) as it is so simple and so profitable.

For a quick start guide to matched betting, sign up to my mailing list below and receive a FREE monthly matched betting calendar to help you keep track of important sporting events. You will also receive tips and tricks on how to make the most of your new income stream.

  1. I love your blog! Always full of amazing tips. I was wondering if you had any kind of daily checklist that you follow?

    1. Hi Katie, so sorry for the delay, I missed your comment!

I don’t have a daily checklist as such – it is one of those things that I keep meaning to get around to creating. Would you be interested in me creating one, with clickable links or bookmarks?

      1. Hi Emma,

Thanks for your reply!! Yes, I’d definitely be interested in that.
I try to follow a set routine myself but I don’t have many items on the list so thought it would be interesting to see how the expert works!

  2. If you’re just decluttering your home, you don’t have to pay tax on eBay earnings? Is that just a UK thing? I thought, in the U.S. at least, that if you make more than X amount of money (around $600), you start to get taxed.

  3. Great ideas. I haven’t had time to mystery shop lately, but I love getting paid to shop or have dinner out.

  4. I love your blog and at the moment I’m trying to get to grips with matched betting-not with much success! I have already downloaded some apps and registered with Profile Academic. I love writing and at the moment l am looking for inspiration for a subject to blog about. Once I get a title I am sure that I won’t have a problem writing.
