Collaborative post about unusual areas of investment.
Investing. Just the word investing can leave many of us confused and intimidated but we know of people who have become rich by doing just that! Investing doesn't need to be as intimidating as it seems on the surface and you would be surprised at just what you can invest in these days and how much money can be earned from doing so! Today I'll be sharing 5 uncommon areas of investing that could earn you a lot of money if you're smart about it!
I have certainly dabbled in various areas of investing myself and whilst sometimes I've lost money, in others I've been very successful.
Before I go into sharing these tips, if you're interested in investing in ANYTHING always make sure to do your research up front and seek advice from a financial advisor, especially if you're planning on investing large amounts of money. The nature of investing means your capital is at risk, but if you know what you're doing and know your market well, it can be one of the best decisions you can make.
Unusual Areas of Investment – Music Royalties
Music royalties are a gold mine for an investor if you invest in a high performing artist or platform. The way it works is that every time a song is played on the radio or via an online streaming service you will receive money. You can earn by investing in a royalty scheme. There are various places you can invest in royalty schemes, one of these being websites you can find royalties being auctioned on Royalty Exchange. This is where artists and others who own the rights to their songs go to sell partial or full rights. Depending on who and when you invest, you can make some good money.

Crowdfunding
Crowdfunding in an investment platform that is rising in popularity. This is the practice of funding a project or venture is done by raising money from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount, many of these operate via the internet. Some popular crowdfunding platforms include Kickstarter, Patreon and Indiegogo. A great benefit of crowdfunding is that it allows the market to decide and place value on what they actually want and you have validation for this by how much people are willing to invest. However, it does impose risk as well as you're many people have opted to back projects on these websites that have achieved their funding goals but then through various circumstances haven't come to fruition. If you do happen to invest in a product that explodes, however, you could be making an absolute fortune so be savvy when deciding where to place your money.
Unusual Areas of Investment – Film & Media
Films and media can be incredibly hard to predict in terms of how well they will be received upon release so if you're planning on looking into this area of investing, you'll have to be okay with the potential of high-risk and high-return which may not be an option for many people starting out. If you're savvy in the market and can predict what will perform well, you can become VERY wealthy if you're wise. An intimate understanding of the industry, popular trends and directors and actors/actresses that are well received should all be taken into account to optimize you having the highest odds of a return on your investment.
I hope these unusual areas of investment have given you some food for thought. I've also written a guide: how to start investing which you may also find useful!
