We all have to deal with receipts in our lives but did you know that there are ways to make money from those receipts? Shoppix is an app that will pay you for sending them photos of your receipts.

Shoppix app

What is the Shoppix app and how does it work?

We all get receipts, some of us hoard them just in case need to return something, some of us throw them away and a few will even refuse them at the till but usually just accept them out of politeness.

Shoppix is similar to Storewards. A receipt app that rewards you for photographs of your receipts.

You will receive a fixed amount of in-app tokens in exchange for uploading a photo of you receipt to Shoppix. The process is simple, allow the app access to your phone camera, take a clear photo of the receipt via the app. You might need to take a couple of photos depending on how big the receipt is.

Once done just hit done and it will be uploaded to Shoppix and they will give you a fixed amount of 25 tokens once the receipt has been verified. With a bonus of 5 tokens if uploaded on day of purchase. You will get a couple of questions to answer, over in just a couple of taps.

These tokens can be exchanged for cash to your PayPal account or a gift-card for Amazon, iTunes or Love2Shop once you have reached the threshold amount.

Bonuses in the Shoppix app

The Shoppix app gives you extra ways in which to earn extra tokens.

As you upload receipts, certain receipts or thresholds will trigger certain surveys to be available for a period of time. They can also trigger electronic scratchcards for a chance to win extra tokens.

You can also gain these scratchcards for completely surveys and for uploading each consecutive week.

There are also other quick surveys in which you can choose to do for tokens and scratchcards. These could be like a survey of the week or triggered by an event.

There are also prize draws each week which you get automatic entry to from scratching the scratchcards. Prizes can vary but have included 10,000 tokens for 2 people with 2000 tokens for 8 runner ups.

They used to be a refer a friend program as well which would reward you for the first 8 to sign up, complete their profile and upload their first receipt. The friend would also gain a bonus 200 tokens. However at the time of writing this they are not offering it but stated of it returning in future.

What are the payment Thresholds on the Shoppix app?

The most important question of all which I am sure that you are all asking, how much do I need to be paid with the Shoppix app?

Well that’s simple here is a quick break down of the thresholds for you all:

Amazon e-gift card, PayPal, Love2Shop & Apple

  • 3200 Tokens = £5
  • 6000 Tokens = £10
  • 11,500 Tokens = £20

You should be paid within 7 days, though be sure to keep an eye on your emails just in case they have an issue.

What receipts can I upload?

Shoppix will accept nearly every kind of receipt that you will gain! Big chain stores, small independent stores and restaurants!

There a few rules they have though.

  • The shop/service provider
  • Date (which must be within the last 7 days)
  • The individual items or services paid for and the total price paid.
  • Daily Store Limit. Can only upload 1 receipt of each store per day.

The receipt will have to have been from within the last 7 days, which is very important to remember. They will only reward you with Tokens 30 times a week (restarts every Monday). They do encourage you to continue as surveys and scratchcards.

One rule that can be easily over looked is the Daily Store Limit. This means that you can only upload a single receipt from an individual store per day. So for example you have two receipts for Tesco, you would only get tokens for one of the receipts. You can still earn surveys and scratchcards from the extra receipt though. This includes things like Tesco Metro and Tesco Express, it is classed as one store that being Tesco.

Any receipts that have been rejected will also give you the reason for rejection and you will be able to see the photo you took so you are not scratching your head thinking which receipt is it! You can also challenge it if you disagree that it was rejected.

Receipts not accepted:

  • Invoices
  • Household Bills
  • Hand-written Receipts
  • Travel
  • Ticketing
  • Hotels
  • Financial Services

What do Shoppix do with your receipts?

I am sure that some of you are really curious on this. Why are Shoppix willing to pay me in cash or Amazon gift cards for my information?

The answer is quite simple.

They are a Market Research company that work with consumer goods brands.

Data collected from the receipts is used to create reports for brands to purchase from them so that those companies have an insight into the current markets and spending habits of people.

No personal info is sold, and everything is kept anonymous. It is only the spending data of people on a whole that is sold.

Is it worth it?

Honestly yes, yes it is.

It takes less than a few moments to snap and upload a receipt. And all you have to do is say who bought it and what you rated your experience.

End of the day it is extra money in your pocket that you didn’t have before. And you do not have to use much time doing it.

Also there are other receipt apps like Storewards, so make the most of them by combining the receipt photo time to get more money.

Important Notice as of August 2023

Shoppix has reduced it’s users within certain groups to have a more accurate data map on market research.

As such some users of the app will no longer be able to use the app but they will be rounding up to their nearest threshold as a thank you. New users of those groups might also not be able to sign up to the app.
