Vinted Tips – How To Sell More On Vinted

This post may contain affiliate links. Affiliate links means that sometimes if you click through to a website and register or purchase something, we may get a commission from that sale at no extra cost to you. Click here to learn more.

Selling on Vinted is not only a great way to clear your clutter, but it can also be a great way to make extra money, or even start a side hustle or reselling business. Sometimes when you list on Vinted you just hit everything right – the right time, the right products and the right prices and your items are snapped up. Other times they can linger and not sell. If you're looking for Vinted tips from someone with over 1,000 Vinted transactions under their belt then I have you covered.

Vinted tips

What is Vinted?

Vinted is a marketplace for buying and selling unwanted items.

Vinted have three main aims:

  1. Sell simply – make money by easily listing your preloved items – a great way to make money on your phone or to make money with your iPad.
  2. Shop smarter – find amazing brands that you love at a fraction of the RRP.
  3. Join the community – join in the Vinted forums or customise your feed for the products that you really want.

The Vinted app is available both on iOS and Android.

Have the right Vinted username

Your username on Vinted helps to show others that you are a real person behind the account, and not a scammer. It can also help to build loyalty and trust.

We have a free Vinted username generator to help you to pick the perfect name.

Experiment with your background

You might think that a clean, clear background like a plain wall will help your items to stand out, but I get a lot more interest in my items where the background is some patterned wallpaper.

Experiment with layouts

Along with your background you can also experiment with what works best for your listings – if you can create a flatlay like a pro, give it a try. You might want to model the items yourself, or on a hanger.

It is all trial an error to find what works best for you.

.

List regularly

The Vinted algorithym loves fresh listings, and one of the best ways to make more Vinted sales is to actually list your items for sale and not have them in a bag in the corner of the room waiting to be listed.

There are some ‘best times' to post on Vinted, but honestly, the best time to post is right now! If you keep waiting for the best time to list you will never get those items listed.

It is better to aim for listing 3+ items per day rather than listing loads of items in one day – but don't let that put you off! If you're in the zone and getting loads listed, keep going.

Vinted Tips – what to include in your Vinted title

If you ask any two people about what you should include in your Vinted title then you will get two different answers.

I've experimented with everything from ‘black skirt' to ‘Marks and Spencer black a-line floral linen skirt size 16' and I've found that to get the right balance between being able to list quickly and get more sales, including the brand name, colour/design (e.g. black floral) and item work best. If the material is noteworthy, such as linen, I try to include that.

Create detailed product descriptions

Your product descriptions don't have to win the Booker prize, but taking time to add details like measurements in your listing can really help to get more sales on Vinted – in fact adding measurements is one of the top Vinted tips I am sharing with you – even if I don't do it all the time!

I have a cheap tape measure and then I have these saved on the notes in my phone for dresses, skirts and trousers – feel free to copy them and save them to your notes too.

Dresses:

Approx measurements in inches are:

Armpit to armpit:
Waist left to right:
Shoulder to hem:

Tops:

Skirts:

Trousers:

I also like to include information that I would find useful when I am looking to buy something. For example, I like to know if a skirt has an elastic waist, or if a dress has pockets.

Vinted tips

Price your items realistically

Vinted buyers are looking to get a bargain, so you want to price your items both to sell and at a price that is fair to you.

The worst place to do pricing research is by using the suggestions that Vinted give you when you list an item. Feel free to ignore 95% of this, as they tend to show the lowest price first. If you want to carry out pricing research before you list your items then you can search Vinted for the item to get an idea of the price (although that will show you the listed price not the sold price) or search eBay and filter for sold prices.

Remember that Vinted will add on a buyer protection fee and postage for the buyer, so that £1 bargain is now costing the buyer at least £3.67. It isn't that your £1 item is too expensive, but adding on the extra fees means it isn't the deal it originally looks like. To combar this, you can either have bundle discounts on, or create your own listing where you've bundled similar items together.

Since Vinted allows both the seller and the potential buyer to send offers, so it is worth listing items for slightly more than you want them to sell for.

That said, if you do want items to sell quickly then lower prices do help.

Bad lighting? Consider Lightroom presets

Lighting in your Vinted photos is quite important – I've had some shockinly bad photos uploaded!

I try to take my photos in natural day light, but the British weather doesn't always agree.

To combat this I use Lightroom presets, so after taking photos on my phone I simply import them into Lightroom and use a daylight preset to enhance the image.

This show a photo taken in bad lighting.

Relist Your Items

If your items aren't selling then you might want to consider relisting them on Vinted.

You can't just use the same photos or Vinted will just pop your listing back into its original place in your wardrobe. Instead you'll need to edit your photos slightly, which you can do automatically with SellerAider.

Send offers to potential buyers

When someone favourites your item on Vinted, you can send them an offer to buy the item at a discount. Sometimes all the buyer needs to convince them to make a purchase is to be sent a little discount. I love when a seller sends me a discounted offer, and it usually means I end up making the purchase.

You can also send Vinted offers in bulk, either with a percentage off or a set amount off.

Should you message people who have favourited your items?

Some sellers message potential buyers giving them information on when they are next posting, inviting them to ask any questions or inviting offers.

In my completely personal opinion, I hate this as a buyer. I'd suggest that if you want to try it out, test it out and see how it performs for you.

Offer Bundle Discounts

Vinted gives you the chance to offer your potential buyers a discount for buying more items from you.

These discounts range from 5% – 50% off when someone buys 2 items, 3 items or 5 items.

Be sure to change these in your Settings>Bundle discounts.
