Lots of people have been working from home over the last year. Many of them are looking to continue working from home, even if that means switching jobs or going down a different career path. The flexibility and freedom of having a job that allows you to work from home are real deal breakers. You might even be able to take a reduction in pay or in hours due to not having to pay for commuting – fuel, public transport fares and even parking. Not only that, you'll get time back by not having to commute and be able to utilise your lunch hours to get on top of the washing or vacuum the house, meaning that your weekends don't get filled up with housework. If this sounds good to you and you fancy a job at home, let's have a look at some work from home admin desk jobs, which could be the first step to carving a career from your house.

Virtual Receptionist

There are lots of work from home admin jobs available. The first one we'll talk about is a virtual receptionist. You may think that a receptionist needs to work in the office building, but what if the company doesn't have an office? Maybe they work virtually from around the globe? Or they are in rented premises and there is a main receptionist for the building, but not one for the company. A virtual receptionist has all the calls to the company redirected to their mobile phone. This means they can still offer a great professional welcome without having to be in the same place as colleagues. These phone calls can then be transferred onwards or messages can be taken. Information can be given over the phone and that same “Hello, [insert company name], how can I help?” greeting is still relevant. If there is a call from the building front desk, the receptionist can then inform whoever the guest is coming to see.

Diary Management

Business people, company owners, CEOs and other professionals aren't often in the same place for too long. They have long days of hard work and plenty of travelling too. They often need help with their diary. Knowing where they need to be and when, organising meetings in different offices in the city, even adding home commitments into their busy lifestyle. You can do diary management from home and help working professionals with too much on their plate juggle things that little bit easier. You might be figuring out how many meetings you can schedule in, taking the time it takes to travel from one to another into account. It could be block booking time with a manager or HR to discuss hiring new staff. Maybe it's even booking half a day for their anniversary celebrations. Diary management can be one of the great work from home admin jobs.

Travel Booking

Similar to managing diaries, you might need to organise travel for people. It could be just for one person, perhaps a business director who is always on the move. Maybe it's being the go to person for anyone in the company having to travel. This could be train journeys, air travel, organising taxis. You might have access to a corporate booking system or simply use a company card in order to book the best prices you can find. Organising travel for people can be a full time job. One that you can do from the comfort of your home via email and phone.
