Is finding love on your agenda this year? Are you tired of the single life and ready to start putting yourself out there again? Well, you and many others are in the same boat so now is the time to start getting into the dating game!

If you’re new to free online dating, the thought of meeting strangers and going out on dates can be very intimidating and off-putting but I can assure you it absolutely doesn’t have to be! I’ll be sharing some ways to put your fears at rest when it comes to dating and allow you to love the process rather than dread it!

I don’t know what to post on my dating profile

My advice would be to not overthink or go into too much detail on your profile. Your potential matches will be making quick snap decisions on your profile so you want to make sure your profile captures their attention. Make sure you have a good amount of photos on your profile. It’s always good to have a combination of selfies plus pictures with your friends/family.

You also don’t want a huge bio, no-one will take time to read long paragraphs! Keep it short and sweet, list some interesting facts about yourself. If you’re a dog or cat lover, mention it! If you’re a fan of the gym, mention it! You want to attract people who have common interests so focus on things you enjoy and want the other person to know.

How do I start a conversation with a potential match?

Again, don’t overthink this step! If you want to start out amongst the crowd, take a minute to read over the profile of the person you want to get to know and if they’ve made a reference to something you also like (e.g the gym), mention it! Compliments always go a long way too so rather than just saying ‘Hi’ or ‘Hi, how are you?’ go along the lines of ‘Hey, so glad we matched! Your photos look great!’ or ‘Hey, thanks for matching! I see you’re also a fan of working out, how many days a week do you train?’ Your goal is to just get the conversation started here. Have this approach, be interested in the other person and if they’re worth your time, the conversation should naturally flow. If it doesn’t go to plan, just move on to the next!

I don’t what to wear on my date!

This honestly is not something that will matter a great deal on your dates and my ultimate advice is to what whatever you feel comfortable and confident in. Also, bear in mind where you’ll be going for your date and then figure out what will look good but also will make you feel confident in. If you feel most confident in jeans, go for that! If you want to go all out and wear a dress and glam up, do that! After your initial meeting, your date will be far more interested in YOU than what you’re wearing anyway so don’t overthink it.

I’m worried online dating will cost me lots of money

There are SO many completely free dating sites online so finding love absolutely does not have to break the bank. If anything, I don’t personally believe dating sites are something you should have to pay money for since there are thousands of single people on these free dating sites ready to meet people like you. You also don’t need to go crazy on the expenses on your day, you can arrange just to meet up for coffee or go to the park or free museums. I find the best dates are ones where you can relax and have time to get to know the other person. When you’ve gone on a few dates, then you can start thinking about investing more money.
