Europe’s casino resorts are sought after experiences and see plenty of visitors year on year. Some are in amazing locations such as the South of France and Monaco. Indeed, you’ll probably recognise some of the locations from James Bond films and other iconic movies.

Different continents have different cultures, and even casino gaming will vary from country to country. The gambling culture that is prevalent apart from the cultural factor is mostly influenced by the operators and their business models that are present in these markets.

If you’re new to casino resorts, especially European ones, you may be wondering how they operate. It can be intimidating if you’re visiting for the first time. The good news is with a little research you will soon be enjoying the delights of a resort, possibly in an exotic location.

Smaller Scale than America

Whereas American casino resorts tend to be large scale constructions, European casinos tend to be more compact with a few exceptions. If you are used to larger-scale resorts, this can be a surprise. The gaming space tends to be smaller and often on split levels. You may want to familiarise with the layout before you play for the first time.

Generally, European casino resorts operate in the same way as resorts around the world with similar room options. However, in Europe when it comes to adult entertainment, the same segregated model isn’t really in the best interest of the player. The typical European casino offers no more than slots and table games, and in some cases, there is a bar and a small restaurant with the aim of serving the visitors. When an operator adds a theatre, the main target is still the player, however, in most cases, everyone is welcomed. An example of such a European casino is The Hippodrome from London, which also organises performance events for those who want to see them.

Dress Codes

The dress codes tend to be a little laxer in European Casinos, but again, this is unique to the resort you are looking to visit. Monaco’s Monte-Carlo Casino states ‘proper attire’ which translates to no shorts, sports shoes, or flip flops. Other casinos don’t have any such requirements. To avoid disappointment, research dress codes of where you are planning to attend.

Game Rules

European casino games may have slightly different rules than American ones. Roulette is a good example. In Europe the wheel contains one less zero, the table layout is different, and the games tend to run faster.

That said it is not uncommon to find American roulette in casinos across Europe. In addition, when it comes to casino gaming, European casinos are more into table games, such as poker and blackjack, while there are few slots. Besides, the European market has the most competitive market in the world, in other words, the more competition, the better conditions for the players.

Most games have the same rules around the world. It is still wise to check before you play.

Generally, European casino resorts work the same way as other resorts around the world. It is a good idea to research your chosen resort before you attend to avoid surprises and possible disappointments.
