Back in 2006-2008 smartphones weren't everywhere, and if you were out at the pub on a Saturday night and wanted to find out who won X-Factor then you might have text the AQA 63336 service to find out. Nowadays with the internet in most people's hands the service is no longer required and therefore no longer running. However here I am sharing my experiences of working for them, as well as some genuine alternative work from home and side hustle ideas for you. Although they provide great flexibility, like marketing digital, working-from-home opportunities are hard to come by.

What was AQA 63336?

63336 was a text service who a service user could text any question to.

Some of the questions that I encountered when I worked for AQA 63336 included:

  • Why do men have nipples?
  • What are tonight's winning lottery numbers?
  • Does Ben really love me?
  • Will I get the job promotion?
  • When will I have a baby?

As you can see, it included genuine things you could find the answers to, as well as more light hearted questions.

Working for AQA 63336

I worked for them around 2006 – 2008 whilst at university as an ‘Internet Researcher'.

I was paid 30p per reply through their web based app, and would often earn £6 – £8 an hour.

One lucky night, the X Factor final night, I earned a massive £60 an hour by answering that question over and over.

As not only smartphones became more popular and more accessible, but smart devices such as Alexa and Google Home are more accessible, the need for the service that AQA 63336 were providing diminished.

AQA have not been active since 2018, when they stopped posting to their social media channels.

Their website remained live until 2022, but is no longer active.

Alternatives to earning from home with AQA 63336

The great news for side hustlers and those who want to earn from home is that there are still plenty of opportunities to earn money from home.

AQA 63336 alternative – online surveys

Completing online surveys can be done both on your computer and on your smartphone or tablet, making them a flexible earning opportunity. Here are some of our favourite survey websites.

Swagbucks

Use your opinion to earn some cash with Swagbucks. There are lots of different ways to earn points with Swagbucks which you can convert into cash, but surveys are one of the easiest. One of the best things is that you can see what surveys will reward you with and how long it will take to complete them. So you can focus on putting the time you have available to maximum use.

Find out how to convert Swagbucks to cash.

Gift Hunter Club

Paying out in a variety of methods including Paypal cash and Amazon gift vouchers, Gift Hunter Club is a paid to click site that also offers surveys as a way to earn points. There are plenty of surveys to choose from, and you can also boost your earnings by downloading apps, watching videos and much more.

InstaGC

There are many ways to earn from the Paid To Click (PTC) website InstaGC, and completing surveys is one of them.

You can withdraw your earnings from InstaGC from just £1 in Amazon vouchers. Other gift vouchers on offer include, ASDA, ASOS, B&Q, Groupon, iTunes, Rixty, Skype and Starbucks, in various amounts. My favourite gift card has to be Amazon. Once you redeem, you are given the code instantly and can spend it straight away – there’s no waiting around. It costs the same points per pound to redeem a £1 gift card as it does to redeem a £100 gift card, so there’s no benefit in letting your points accumulate. This means that you can spend your vouchers as soon as you have earned them, making them one of the best paid survey sites.

Branded Surveys

If you are looking for a website with a low payment threshold (just $10) and some extra ways to earn money apart from the surveys then Branded Surveys (formerly MintVine) is for you.

YouGov

Head over to YouGov and give your opinion on the latest goings on in the country. For every survey that you complete you'll earn points. Once you reach 5000 points in your account you'll be able to convert them into a £50 pay out. That's a decent amount of cash and great for our surveys for money UK list. This goes straight into your bank account for you to use how you like. There is even a YouGov app to make it easier to take part in surveys from your arm chair. There are a lot of surveys you'll be applicable for and you could perhaps cash out once, twice or maybe even three times a year depending on the amount of time you have to give.

LifePoints

I love LifePoints! There are so many redemption options to choose from, including Amazon vouchers, Paypal cash, New Look vouchers and many more. You are invited to between 4 – 6 surveys per day, and even if you are screened out you will receive entries into their sweepstakes. They also have an Android and iOS app for completing surveys on the go.

Pinecone

Pinecone is a fantastic survey website paying £3 per survey, and you hardly ever get screened out. Click here to sign up.

Prolific

One of the huge benefits of Prolific is the amount of surveys available. There are no points to convert here, just cold hard cash. Once you reach £5 in your account you can withdraw. You could earn plenty of cash every day with Prolific, whilst taking part in interesting and varied surveys.

Cashback.co.uk

Cashback lets you use your spare time to complete tasks and complete free trial offers. You can use that time you'd usually be sat on the sofa watching reruns on Netflix, to top up your bank account. It's such an easy way to make some money and a well deserved place on our list of surveys for money UK. Take a look at how you can make money from Cashback and sign up for a £10 welcome bonus.

Print on Demand

Print on demand, sometimes called POD, is where you can sell your own custom designs on different types of products.

Instead of ordering lots of items in various colours and sizes and holding on to stock (with a big financial outlay) these items are printed on demand from third-party providers.

The ‘on demand' bit means that when an item sells it triggers an order from your supplier, who take care of everything else for you.

There are lots of items that can be sold using POD. They include:

  • T-Shirt
  • Hoodies
  • Face masks or face coverings
  • Mugs or cups
  • Bags
  • Stationery
  • Smart phone covers
  • Stickers
  • Prints

And many more.

Mystery shopping

Mystery shopping is a tool used by companies to evaluate their quality of service.

In order to do this, companies employ outside agencies to recruit mystery shoppers to carry out assignments. These shoppers will act like a normal customer and look at certain aspects of the service they receive. The shopper then completes a report after the assignment and receives a payment for doing so.

  1. I tried joining AQA a few years back, but being a degree short I didn’t get it. Not sure why you need a degree to answer many of the questions asked eg who is the winner of X Factor :p
