It is really important to me to think about ways to give back and I was thrilled to be tagged by Sally Akins in the WayFair #BlogItForward challenge.

Wayfair have challenged bloggers to #BlogItForward by doing a good deed and then blogging about it. For every blogger who participates they will donate £50 to Habitat for Humanity.

Something that is really close to my heart is food banks. I've been there. I've been homeless and needing to rely on a food bank, which is why I make it a priority to donate items on a regular basis. Adding a few more items into our trolley when we are grocery shopping barely adds anything to our grocery spend, and yet it can go on to help someone who is currently less fortunate.

For this challenge, I decided to mix things up a bit and donate more than our usual items. I started with checking through our cupboards to see what we wouldn't miss, and I managed to grab a few sorry looking tins. I then decided to use the money I had made from selling my old smelly shoes on eBay (yep!) to buy some items that were desperately needed by my local food bank, and headed off to buy them. I won't mention what I spent, because I find it crass to talk about how much people donate to charity, but I am so thankful that I was able to earn some extra cash to be able to buy those items!

Get involved

There is still time to get involved with #BlogItForward. Simply think of a way to #BlogItForward and blog about it. For every blog that includes the badge, Wayfair will donate a massive £50 to Habitat for Humanity! It could not be easier. You only have until the 31st January 2016, so if there is a good deed you can do before the deadline then please get involved!

I tag Anna from annainternationalblog.com and Laura from www.insidelaurashead.com. I know it is short notice but hopefully you can still take part!

  1. Such a lovely thing to do. I keep meaning to find a local food bank and make a donation, like you said a few extra items in the shopping don’t make much of a difference to your bill but they could mean a family gets a meal that night.
