The summer season is here and you might be excited about the coming months. Do you have a holiday booked? Maybe you have time to catch up with the kids, or friends and family you haven't seen in a while? Perhaps you have a weekend away booked or some day trips and events or festivals to go to? Whatever you're getting up to this summer, you might be thinking that you could do with a bit of extra cash? The summer months can often become quite expensive! Let's have a look at how to make extra money this summer.

Fruit Picking

Many people head down to the local farm during the summer months. They pick fruit as an activity with the kids. However, did you know fruit pickers are needed up and down the country? This is to get fruit from plants, into boxes and away to supermarket shelves for selling. You could be picking punnets of raspberries and strawberries. Maybe apricots, gooseberries, blueberries, cherries, blackberries and other varieties of fruit. It can be hard work and long days however you can make a decent wage from this. Maybe you can pick up some weekly shifts part-time so you can mix earning with enjoying the summer break.

Babysitting/Child Care

Another way to make extra money this summer is to offer child care. Maybe you have your own children off school and if that is the case, you could offer child care to other kids who have parents at work. If you are setting up the garden with some play toys and a mini bouncy castle, why not have a few extra kids there too? That ay you can enjoy the fun of having kids home in summer, whilst earning a bit of extra money. Babysitting and child care are in big demand during the summer months because of the school holidays and parents still needing to work.

Dog Walking

If you love to get out and about during the summer months, you could earn money whilst simply walking. Dog walkers are needed by a lot of different people who have pets but are too busy to walk them. You could charge £10 for dogs to be walked in a group or up to £30 an hour if a dog needs solo attention. Walk around the park, spend time with animals, and enjoy the sunshine. All whilst getting paid!

Car Washing

The final make extra money this summer idea is washing cars. Stand on the pavement next to a road and you'll quickly count ten cars. These are potential customers for you. Why not go around your local area, even within half a mile of where you live and post car washing flyers through doors. All you need is a bucket, a sponge and some car shampoo. Plus some elbow grease and water of course! If you could get a few customers within walking distance you can wash a number of cars in one day, giving you some time to enjoy the summer and the money you've earned. 

The summer months come and go in the blink of an eye. Making the most of them is paramount, however, making that extra bit of cash can be a huge help to your finances.
