Did you know that there will be a census in 2021? It sounds slightly biblical, the counting of every person living here in the country. With the census, comes census jobs. How can you get yourself one of these census jobs? What will these jobs entail and what is the census actually all about?
What is the 2021 Census?
The census actually happens every ten years, with the last one in 2011. It's a huge undertaking, but happens for a number of reasons. It gives an extremely clear picture about the country and society we live in. This information can then be used by charities and local authorities like your council, to figure out what services are needed with the area and what needs improvement and focus. The 2021 census will take place on Sunday 21 March 2021.
How Will The Census Happen?
Obviously there is another situation currently taking place not just here, but all over the world too. The Coronavirus pandemic is affecting the nation in many different ways. In order to keep everyone safe, the 2021 census will be digital first. This means the first advice would be to give your details via an online form. This may not be possible for some and it's advised that friends and family should help out loved ones who are perhaps struggling with it. There might be a possibility of opening census support centres, if safe to do so under government guidelines. If there are households who do not complete the form, this is where census field officers come into play and this is where jobs are available.
2021 Census Jobs
With such a large undertaking, comes a whole lot of temporary jobs. Imagine the vast nature of conducting such an event. There is a recruitment drive for 35,000 temporary census jobs. These could be perfect if you lost your job recently, have had a change in your financial situation or are simply looking for some temporary work. There are different amounts of hours available, from part time to full time. Essentially there is a role for everyone so you can make money whilst helping the 2021 census. Different roles will take place in different places, some more management focused and others knocking on doors. These field officers will be safe, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and always working within current government guidelines.
