Many of us have issues with money. Our past experiences with it could be holding us back. Think about the way you look at money, treat your finances and plan your budgeting. Are your thoughts about money helping or hindering your progress with it? Let's look at some ways we can alter our thoughts towards cash. Let's change our money mindset.
Be Thankful
Firstly, let's look at what we have to be thankful for. Many people on this planet live on just a few pence a day. They struggle to feed their families, lack access to clean water and healthcare. Appreciate what you do have, the things in your life that we need to be thankful for. The roof over your head, the clothes you have, the food you are eating. When we start to look at what we have to be thankful for, we can change our money mindset and start seeing the balance in our bank in a different way.
Focus On Your Specific Reason For Saving
Do you find yourself struggling to find money to save? At the end of the month is everything used up and there is nothing to put away? If you want to save money, give yourself goals to try and hit. Find something you actually want to save money for and you'll be surprised at just how quickly you can start saving money for it.
Transfer that money mindset away from spending on things you don't need, to saving for things that you want. Do you need another takeaway coffee on the way to work? Take your own hot drink on your journey and put what you would have spent into your savings. Start with little steps which will lead to bigger changes.
Become Minimalist & Frugal
Do you need all the stuff you have? Could you save money by changing your lifestyle and cutting back on expensive spending? It could be starting to meal plan, batch cooking or swapping where you shop to a budget supermarket. Maybe get rid of the clutter in your home and stop spending money on throwaway fashion. When we choose to make a change, we are more likely to follow it through. Change your money mindset and the changes you want to see will be easier to implement.
Spread Some Love
People say that there is plenty of money to go round, however lots of us have been brought up to not think that too. If you hold onto all your cash, you might feel a sense of security but what good is your money doing? How about giving something away? Buying something for a friend or loved one? Donating to a charity? They also say that the good you do comes back around. You never know, changing your money mindset towards gifting might end up being on the best things you do!
Picture Your Future Self
Where do you want to be in five years time, ten years time, or twenty years time? If you're unhappy with your attitude towards cash right now, you likely want to set some milestones and make changes which will actually work. What is the future self you want to picture? How are you going to get yourself to that point? By shifting your money mindset you can even gain financial freedom and find a future that you will be proud of. None of us have a DeLorean time machine, but we can put things in place now, to change our future, rather than regret our past.
