Vinted Royal Mail QR Code vs Label Explained: Why It’s Suddenly Different

If you sell on Vinted and use Royal Mail, you might have noticed something confusing over the last couple of days.

Until very recently, Royal Mail parcels on Vinted worked in a fairly predictable way. You’d generate a QR code, take it to the Post Office, and they’d print the label for you. Simple.

Now though, things feel… random.

Some sales give you a QR code.
Some give you a printable label.
And there’s no warning which one you’ll get until after the buyer has paid.

Vinted haven’t announced a change, updated their help pages, or explained what’s going on. Everything below is based on what I and other sellers are actively seeing right now.

What has changed with Vinted Royal Mail postage

Previously, Royal Mail on Vinted worked like this:

• Buyer chose Royal Mail
• Seller received a QR code
• Post Office printed the label
• Parcel sent as normal

Over the last couple of days, that has changed.

Now, when a buyer selects Royal Mail, the seller might receive:

A QR code to scan at the Post Office
OR
A ready-made address label that must be printed at home

There’s currently no way to choose which one you get, like you can do with Evri and InPost.

Why this seems to be happening

This hasn’t been confirmed by Vinted, but based on multiple recent orders, there does seem to be a pattern emerging.

From what I’ve noticed:

• If the parcel is being delivered to a Post Office for collection, you’re more likely to get a QR code
• If the parcel is being delivered to the buyer’s home address, you’re more likely to get a printable label

That would make sense from a logistics point of view, but right now it’s still an assumption rather than an official rule.

The key issue is that sellers can’t see this in advance. You only find out whether it’s a QR code or a label after the order is placed.

Is this a glitch or a permanent change?

At the moment, nobody outside of Vinted knows.

That’s because there has been no announcement from Vinted, no in-app message and no update to their help centre. The postage options in your settings remain unchanged

Because this has only appeared in the last few days, it could still be:

• A phased rollout
• A test
• A glitch
• Or a permanent change that hasn’t been communicated

Either way, sellers are having to adapt on the fly.

Can you choose whether you get a QR code or a label on Vinted with Royal Mail?

Right now, no.

• There’s no setting to force QR code only
• There’s no warning at checkout
• There’s no indication before you generate the postage

This is frustrating, especially for sellers who rely on Post Office printing and don’t own a printer.

What to do if Vinted gives you a printable Royal Mail label

If you don’t have a printer at home, you’re not stuck. You’ve got more options than you might think.

Places you can print a Vinted label:

Local library – Many libraries offer very cheap printing, often 10p–20p per page.

A friend or family member – A quick WhatsApp message can save a lot of stress.

A neighbour – If you’re friendly with anyone nearby, this can be an easy solution.

Local Facebook groups – People often offer quick printing help for free or a small cost. Community groups are surprisingly helpful for this.

Workplace – If allowed, printing a single label is usually no issue.

Local print shops – Not ideal for low-value items, but an option if needed.

Once printed, you can attach the label as normal and drop it off at the Post Office.

How this affects your Vinted selling routine

The biggest change for sellers is the added unpredictability when using Royal Mail. You now need to be prepared for either a QR code or a printable label when a buyer selects this option, as there’s no way to know in advance which one you’ll receive.

This may mean having a plan in place for quickly printing a label if needed, allowing yourself a little extra time before posting items, and factoring this uncertainty into how often you visit the Post Office.

If Royal Mail is your preferred postage option, it is still perfectly usable, but it is no longer as seamless or straightforward as it was just a week ago.

Important Royal Mail tip for Vinted sellers

If you’re posting with Royal Mail, always keep proof of postage.

This applies whether you used a QR code or a printed label.

If anything goes missing, Vinted will usually ask for proof, and Royal Mail receipts are still important for seller protection.
