One of the first questions everyone asks before listing on Vinted is the same: does Vinted take a cut of my sales? If you’ve sold on eBay, Depop, or Facebook Marketplace before, you’re probably used to fees popping up everywhere. So it feels almost too good to be true when you hear this.

The honest answer is simple. Vinted does not charge sellers any fees at all. When you sell an item, you receive the full price you listed it for. There’s no commission, no platform cut, and nothing deducted from your payout. That’s exactly why so many of us fell in love with Vinted in the first place. You can sell a £3 top and actually get £3, not £1.82 after a confusing list of charges.
There are some optional paid upgrades, but even Vinted Pro sellers aren’t charged fees.
But buyers do pay some extras, and sellers have a few optional paid tools, so let’s go through the whole system properly so you know exactly what to expect in 2026.
What Fees Do Buyers Pay on Vinted?
Buyers pay two things on top of the item price: postage and buyer protection.
Buyer protection fee
This is the small charge added to every purchase to cover things like refunds if an item never arrives, help from Vinted support, and protection if something isn’t as described. It’s paid by the buyer only and never comes out of the seller’s earnings.
Postage costs
The buyer chooses the courier at checkout and pays for the label. Sellers don’t pay postage on Vinted unless they decide to offer free shipping themselves, which is very rare in the UK.
This is where a lot of new sellers get confused. You must always use the label or QR code that Vinted provides. You can’t just pop to the Post Office and pay for your own postage. If you’re not sure how the different couriers work, my postage guide walks you through Evri, Yodel, Royal Mail, and InPost step by step.

What Vinted Fees Do Sellers Pay?
None.
Genuinely none.
You can list as many items as you like, sell every day of the week, and Vinted still won’t take a penny from your sales. Your payout is simply the item price, and that’s what lands in your Vinted balance.
The only times sellers spend money on Vinted are when they choose to use optional extras, which we’ll talk about next.
Optional Paid Tools for Sellers
Vinted offers a couple of paid visibility features, but they are completely optional. Most sellers, including me for years, sell perfectly well without ever touching them.
Bumps
A bump pushes one listing higher in search results for a short period. This can help with seasonal items, popular brands, or when your views have gone quiet. You never need to bump something to make it sell, but it can give a nudge when you want one.
Wardrobe Spotlight
This promotes all your listings together for a few days. It’s useful if you’ve just listed a big batch, but again, not necessary for everyday selling.
If you’re trying to decide whether bumps are worth it, the best place to start is improving your photos and descriptions first. My photo tips and description guide will usually get better results than any paid boost.
Personally I would say not to bother with any of these tools, and instead look at using something like SellerAider or Dotb to relist your Vinted items as well as bulk send offers on Vinted.
Do You Lose Money If a Sale Is Cancelled?
No. If a buyer or seller cancels before the item is marked as shipped, the buyer is refunded automatically and the label is voided. Sellers don’t pay any kind of penalty fee.
I’ve written a full walkthrough on this in how to cancel a Vinted sale if you ever need it.
What About Returns and Disputes?
If a buyer opens a dispute because something isn’t as described, Vinted steps in and decides the outcome. This doesn’t mean sellers suddenly get charged fees. The decision is based on evidence and buyer protection rules.

Royal Mail and Proof of Postage
One important note for sellers using Royal Mail. Always keep your proof of postage receipt. You don’t need it for everyday payouts, but if tracking is slow to update or a parcel goes missing, Vinted may ask for it to confirm you posted correctly. It doesn’t create a fee, it just protects you.
Why People Think Vinted Has Fees
There are a few myths that never seem to die:
- sellers assume postage is deducted from payouts
- buyers think sellers pay the buyer protection fee
- people mix Vinted up with Depop or eBay
- bumps get mistaken for mandatory charges
Once you’ve used the app a few times, you realise how simple it actually is. You list, someone buys, you use the label, and you get paid.
Realistic Earning Example
If you list a jumper for £8:
- buyer pays £8 + postage + buyer protection
- you receive £8 exactly
- nothing is deducted later
That’s why Vinted works so well for clearing wardrobes or reselling stock. Even low-value items are worth listing because the platform doesn’t eat your profit.

When Fees Might Appear Outside Vinted
The only time money might leave your pocket is unrelated to Vinted itself, such as:
- Paying to bump listings
- Paying for Wardrobe Spotlight
- External tools like SellerAider or Dotb
None of these are platform fees, just normal selling costs you control.
Vinted is one of the few resale platforms left where sellers truly keep what they earn. Buyers cover the protection and postage, and sellers get a clean, simple payout. That’s why it’s such a good place for beginners and experienced resellers alike.
If you’re thinking about starting, don’t let the word fees scare you. On Vinted, they simply don’t exist for sellers.
