Around 4.55 billion people are currently active on social media with each person spending 2 hours and 25 minutes on social networks and messaging on average. Social media marketing is therefore an effective way to connect with a larger audience, grow your brand, and promote your blog organically. By taking the time to perfect your social media marketing strategy, you can better maximise your traffic, audience, and profits.

Use a tailored strategy for each platform

Since each social media platform has its own set of best practices for generating engagement, you need to tailor your posts to the platforms you’re using. So, be clear on why you’re on the platforms you’re on, who you’ll reach there, and the most effective types of posts for each platform. If you’re still unsure on any of these points, you may need to switch to another platform better suited to your goals. It’s also important to post consistently, but, again, exactly how often differs from platform to platform. You need to be active on Instagram Stories and Twitter, for example, throughout the day to engage your audience to their fullest potential, whereas Facebook and Instagram can be used less often.

Use Facebook lead ads

Facebook lead ads are an easy yet effective way to generate leads on Facebook, a platform with a whopping 2.89 billion users a month. With Facebook lead ads, users can fill out a form with their basic details (like their name and email address) to be added to your email list — there’s no need for them to go to the effort of clicking through to your site. You can get more leads on Facebook by ensuring your ads are well-executed. For example, people typically feel incentivised to give their personal details only if they’re being offered something valuable in return. Make sure your lead ads are offering something valuable that the audience can really benefit from (like an ebook or cheat sheet download, for instance).

Measure and analyse your results

If you’re not tracking and analysing the results of your social media marketing, you won’t know if your efforts are a success or whether changes need to be made. Fortunately, measuring your results doesn’t have to be complicated. Start by identifying the key metrics most important to your brand — for example: comments, likes, and mentions on Instagram; engagement and views on Instagram Stories; retweets and mentions on Twitter; and engagement and reach on Facebook, Impressions. You should then make a conscious effort to track these metrics on a weekly and monthly basis, so you’re aware of any improvements you need to make to your strategy.

Social media marketing can be an effective way to promote your blog and grow your audience. By using a strategy tailored to each platform, investing in Facebook lead ads, and measuring and analysing your results, you can ensure you’re getting the most out of your social media marketing strategy.
