On the 14th June, Awin (formerly Affiliate Window) hosted their first conference – a one day innovative affiliate marketing experience. They kindly invited me along as their VIP Blogger of the day, to experience all that was on offer.

The venue was the perfect location, held at the Science Museum in London. Upon arriving I saw Faith from Much More With Less, and we headed in to be greeted with arguably the cutest breakfast foods ever – I am a sucker for a canape! We were soon joined by Martyna from Money Saving Girl.

After breakfast and mingling we headed up to the IMAX theatre to kick off the day.

The day kicked off with an introduction from Ian Charlesworth, who is the UK Country Manager for Awin:

Awin has been a leader in vertical-specific events for several years. With this showcase event we wanted to use our market position to host a forum for our clients and publishers from all industries to come together to learn and network.”

Following the introduction, there was a panel from a few of the sponsors, and then it was time for the keynote speaker, web psychologist Nathalie Nahai. Hands down this was the session I was looking forward to the most – where we learned how behavioral science applies to the digital world, and why we make our purchasing decisions online.

This was a fascinating talk and it gave me lots of ideas for marketing my own products. It was absolutely fascinating to see how a few changes to the way your blog or products are displayed can make a massive difference. Lots of food for thought!

Another session that I really enjoyed was when Richie Jones talked about his journey from an agency founder, to CMO to brand owner. I loved his entrepreneurial streak and the general hints and tips he shared based upon his varied career within the digital landscape.

I was also fascinated by seeing Tim Peake’s capsule – yep, the one that brought him back to earth. It is smaller than you think it would be:
