make money gardening

Do you have green fingers? Are you thinking about a new career or a side hustle? If you love the outdoors, have you ever thought about becoming a gardener? Whilst many of us tend our own front and back gardens at the weekend, how do you fancy doing it throughout the week? Making a job out of it? Can it actually be a full-time career though? Let's have a look at how to make money gardening.

Grow & Sell

Firstly, how about using your outdoor space to grow things to sell? This could be anything from flowers to vegetables or even herbs. With flowers, you can tend your plants and sell them right there on your driveway. Get a sign and some shelves on wheels and you will get local customers. Create bouquets for Mothers Day & Valentine's Day and organise hanging baskets that people can use to spruce up their entranceways. You could bring your own brand to market with dried herbs. Maybe go down the organic route to set yourself apart? How about growing fruit and vegetables to sell at the local market? You could even turn strawberries and raspberries into your own jam. Growing and selling produce can be a great way to make money gardening.

Get Gardening Clients

Of course, if you don't have too much of your own outdoor space, you can always make money gardening by finding clients. Customers who have their own outdoor space but do not have the time to tend to it is key. This could be elderly folk who can't physically do the work themselves or business people who are often away. You could be mowing lawns, trimming hedges, pulling weeds and much more. The great thing about getting clients is repeat business. Many of these customers will want you to come back every week or on another regular basis. You can make money gardening by looking after other people's gardens.

Organise & Run Workshops

Do you have great knowledge to share? Have you thought about running outdoor workshops? These could include seasonal activities such as wreath making in the run-up to Christmas. If you have your own outdoor space you could erect a tent or yurt to run these workshops from. If you don't look at hiring a space such as a church hall. You could even team up with a local coffee shop to run workshops together. You can charge up to £25 per person for these workshops, especially if everything required is included. Charge even more and throw in a glass of fizz! Make a name for yourself and you will be able to create popular workshops all year round.

Become A Beekeeper

Another way to make money gardening is to become a beekeeper. Bees are hugely important to our human lives. Becoming a beekeeper is a great environmental thing to do and you can even create your own brand of honey to sell. You'll need to invest in some hives and a beekeeping suit to stay safe. However, there can be great money to be made in organic and locally made honey. You can even put a little bit of that profit back into a bee saving charity, showing the environmental ethos of your little business.

If you are thinking about stepping into the outdoors to make money gardening, use one of these ideas or think of something more suited to your situation. You never know where that job outside will take you!
