Not everyone can afford a lavish and expensive wedding and instead many couples are choosing to save their money for other more important things such as house deposits and travel experiences. But choosing to get married on a budget doesn’t necessarily mean forgoing all sense of luxury, so here are a few ways to achieve the luxury wedding of your dreams whilst cutting back a little on the cost.
- The venue
The venue is often one of the most expensive parts of a wedding and so it’s a great area to make some significant savings. If you live in a warm climate then why not have your wedding outdoors and spend a little more on decoration? Or alternatively, have your wedding inside a venue that is already beautiful such as a botanical garden or a stately home to save you money on the decoration? - The transport

Mexican, Indian and Italian cuisines are great affordable buffet options which lend themselves well to celebrations. Bulk up on rice, pasta and other vegetable accompaniments and offer fewer meat options as these can be costly. There’s always too much food at the end of a wedding so strip back the amount of catering you provide and be strict on numbers.
- The dress
Your wedding dress is likely to be the single most expensive single-use item in your wardrobe so why buy one at all? Instead, rent the dress of your dreams which will enable you to wear a much more expensive gown from a reputable designer without needing to pay the full ticket price for it. On the day why not do your own wedding makeup too and save yourself hundreds. - The bar
Save yourself some serious cash and say goodbye to the open bar. Instead, promote a ‘bring your own’ option on your invitations and ask your guests to bring a bottle or two of bubbly with them to share during the evening festivities. Alternatively, purchase a set number of drinks for behind the bar and give each attendee a couple of drinks tokens to give in exchange for their free drinks and when they run out the bar becomes paid as usual.
