AD – This is a gifted review on the Catipilla Cat Scratcher.
Anyone that has owned a cat will tell you just how fussy, demanding and quickly bored of something they can be. That can be toys, scratching posts or even us their owners!
Why do cats scratch?
Now there are many reasons on why cats scratch items.
One of the main reasons that cats scratch is that it is in their instinct to sharpen and clean their claws. In the wild this is important for hunting and survival. Even though a domesticated cat might not have to hunt they will still follow their instincts to clean and sharpen them. You know to hunt the red dot!
Cats also use scratching to mark their territory. The process of scratching leaves scent markings that are comforting to your own cat but will also send a message to other cats that this is a claimed territory so stay out or be hissed at.
Scratching is a form of exercise for cats. It is similar to how we love to do stretching, especially first thing in the morning or before we exercise. A cat will stretch out their back, legs and paws whilst they are scratching something.
Cats also find it relaxing and calming.
Who are Catipilla?
Catipilla focus on making luxury cat furniture.
They came about thanks to a cat called Smudge. When she got a little older she struggled with her back legs so a DIY ramp was built so she could maintain her way of life. They quickly noticed their other cats also loved to use it and perching on the higher points. This was the start of Catipilla, and they state Smudge was their founder. Good job pussy cat!
They have massively moved on since then using innovative designs and high quality for simplicity to the owners, and fun for the cats.
Catipilla's Wall Mounted Scratcher
If you are after a luxury cat scratcher for your cat then Catipilla have a great one to choose.
Wall mounted, easy to change, and easy to install. Made with South American sisal rope (hard natural fibre rope), and what is most commonly used for scratching posts as it's nature encourages cats to continue using it.
Our thoughts on the Catipilla Cat Scratcher
So we have a chair in our hallway that the cats love to scratch. Much to our annoyance. We thought right let's put the scratcher next to the chair so they are encouraged to use that instead of our nice chair.
Installing the post was really easy, and it comes with the screws and wall (rawl) plugs. It took longer to find the drill piece needed than putting up the Cat Scratcher.
I would say that the cats ignored it as soon as it went up, as they normally do, but they were curious on what I was doing. So gave it a good old sniff and investigation of the area.
Alaska (our white one) was the more adventurous one and jumped straight into having a good old scratch. And has been really enjoying using it.
Our cats, mainly Alaska, have given the Catipilla Scratcher their paw of approval and something worth investing in.
