Saving for Christmas is something we sometimes don't think about until the colder months start approaching. However, I tend to start planning my next Christmas as early as Boxing Day nearly a year in advance! If you're savvy with your spending and planning throughout the year, you can find a lot of easy ways to save money for your upcoming Christmas spend.
Saving for Christmas by setting a budget
The first step is to set a clear Christmas budget for yourself. This will help be your guiding point when it comes to making any purchases for your Christmas.
When creating your Christmas budget don't forget to account for things like stamps to post your cards and a babysitter for any Christmas parties and try to cut back on unnecessary expenses.
Split your budget by the paydays
Splitting your budget will make your Christmas spending so much easier to plan and will help you avoid overspending when it comes to nearer the time. Once you have your budget in mind, simply just set up a savings account or if you're old-school, put some cash aside in an envelope each month and come December, all your money will be waiting for you.
Make extra money
Achieving your Christmas budget can be a fantastic motivation for you to get into side-hustling. There are so many ways you can decide to make this extra Christmas money whether it's selling your unwanted items on eBay, taking up Matched Betting or offering some freelance services on the side, the possibilities are endless.

Start buying presents
I've started buying presents as early as boxing day in the past and it's honestly saved me so much stress when it comes to Christmas time. Around boxing day and sales during your year, you can snag some absolute bargains on products which you can store away in your attic ready to be wrapped up next year.
You can also make any of these 26 easy recycled gifts.
Buy food and drink early
As you've probably gathered from this post, a key to saving money at Christmas is to plan ahead and with your food and drink this no exception. Obviously, your meat and veggies will have to be bought nearer the time but anything that can be stored such as drinks, biscuit, sweets etc can be bought when great offers appear during the supermarkets beforehand.
Collect loyalty points
Signing up to loyalty programmes throughout the year can end up saving you a fortune at Christmas time if you save your points up to be used specifically towards your Christmas budget. You can use these towards your Christmas food shopping or towards gifts for your friends and family. Many companies will do Christmas offers or offers throughout the year so keep an eye on them regularly.
